Frequently Asked Questions
This page covers the questions athletes ask most before starting with Alpha Performance Coaching: how coaching works, who it’s for, what you need, and what happens if life gets in the way.
Absolutely. A huge part of Alpha Performance Coaching is helping first-timers move from
“I don’t even know where to start” to showing up on race day prepared and confident.
We’ll match the plan to your current fitness, schedule, and comfort level in the swim,
bike, and run so you’re never just guessing what to do.
Life happens. One missed workout won’t break your season, but randomly trying to
“make up” everything can. If you’re on a coaching tier, we’ll adjust the plan around
work, family, and fatigue so you stay consistent and don’t dig yourself into a hole.
The goal is long-term progress, not a perfect calendar.
Tools like power meters and smart trainers are helpful, but they’re not required to start.
We can build training around pace, RPE (how hard it feels), heart rate, and the gear you
already have. As you progress, we can talk about which upgrades are actually worth it for
your goals and budget.
All plans are delivered through TrainingPeaks. You’ll see each day’s workout, how hard it
should feel, and what the goal is. For coaching tiers, you’ll get regular check-ins,
feedback on key sessions, and adjustments based on your data and how you’re feeling.
If you’re local to Tennessee, we can also discuss in-person sessions for skills and form.
Survival is a one-time 12-week blueprint for first-time triathletes who want a
clear plan for race day. ROAR adds ongoing monthly coaching, weekly check-ins, and
structured progression. Alpha is the highest-contact option with more direct access,
quicker adjustments, and deeper support around key races and bigger goals.
Survival is a one-time purchase. For ROAR and Alpha, coaching is billed monthly. There’s no
long-term contract, but I ask that athletes commit mentally to at least 3 months so we can
build, test, and adjust the plan enough to see real progress.
Yes. We’ll cover pacing, nutrition, gear, and mindset for your key events so race day feels
like executing a plan, not guessing. This includes how hard to ride, how to settle into the run,
and how to avoid common mistakes like going out too hot or under-fueling.
Right now, payments are handled through Venmo using the links on the main site. If you have
questions about setting up or changing your plan, you can always email
info@alphaperformance.us before you send payment so we can make sure you’re
in the right tier.
The fastest way is to look at your upcoming goals, your weekly schedule, and your training
history and talk it through. If you’re unsure which tier makes sense, reach out at
info@alphaperformance.us and we can sort out the right starting point.
Still have a question that’s not answered here? Email info@alphaperformance.us and we’ll get back to you.
